BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Geraint Owen
Born with a spanner in-hand and joined the VSCC at a young age. 16th birthday present was a 1928 Morgan Aero chassis which was duly restored in fathers workshop. At the age of 20, a desire for more speed and chancing upon a OHC Minor rolling chassis for £50 which was married to a V-twin JAP engine that was under the bench, saw the building of “Jemima” and the beginning of many years of VSCC competition. Originally used in races and hillclimbs, for 30 years the car has been subjected to the rigours of VSCC trials. Other cars followed (all built and maintained at home), including a putting a dehavilland aero engine in a 1928 Riley and building a Bugatti T35B from a kit. Whilst the last 10 year have seen Geraint racing a 1954 Kurtis Indy car, his most enjoyed events are those than involve doing a doughnuts on gravel in a Frazer Nash. Although either are good if they can be followed by a beer with friends
Geraint served on the VSCC Committee from 2000-2010 serving on the Eligibility sub-committee and chairing the Race Sub-committee. He was asked to once again chair the race sub committee when a vacancy arose in 2024 and made it a mission to improve the driving standards and safety within VSCC racing. He is currently on the MSUK Historic Committee
Away from old cars, Geraint spent his career teaching Automotive Engineering and Design at the University of Bath. Taking early retirement he now runs a car storage business in rural Herefordshire with his wife, Charlotte.
