President Elect

Jon Giles

I have been immersed in the old car scene all my life. My late father, Freddie, had vintage cars before I was born. My own first car at 16 was a 1956 Messerschmitt bubble car which under his guidance I restored from a wreck. I’m now mostly associated with much earlier chain drive marques, particularly Frazer Nash. These are a passion I’ve inherited from both my parents, as has my wife Claire from hers.

When not playing old cars, I manage a busy commercial property business and before joining the board I was a front-line scout leader for many years.

I’m quite competitive by nature and was thrilled to win the 2024 speed championship in our 1928 Shelsley Special ‘Salome’, with which I have competed since my early 20’s.

I’ve had so much fun through the VSCC that I’d now like to ‘give something back’. I hope my commitment and experience will help to secure similarly joyous opportunities for all our members and especially the next generation of likeminded enthusiasts.
